RALEIGH, N.C. --- NC State gymnastics will add three student-athletes in the fall of 2011, Wolfpack head coach Mark Stevenson announced Monday.
Level 10 gymnasts Lane Jarred, Megan Kurdelmeir, and Naomi DeVries signed national letters of intent to make up NC State's incoming freshman class for 2011.
Jarred, a 2010 New Jersey state champion, brings her talents to the Wolfpack from Arena Gymnastics.
"Lane will bring a lot of competitive experience and artistry to our team," said Stevenson. "She comes from the same gym as one of our current gymnasts, Kristen Harabedian."
Jarred finished second on beam, eighth in vault, and seventh all-around at the 2010 Regionals, and was a JO Nationals qualifier. She was unable to compete at nationals due to injury.
Kurdelmeir is a member of Gymnastix Training Center in Atlanta, Ga. A 2010 state champion on floor exercise who will also contribute academically, she ranked 11th in her class this year.
"Megan is a young lady that will add depth and lots of experience on all events," said Stevenson.
Naomie DeVries rounds out the Wolfpack's recruiting class.
"She has huge power, especially on vault and floor exercise," said Stevenson. "She will make an immediate impact on those two events."
A St. Petersburg, Fla. native, Naomi competes for the Tampa Bay Turners, winning vault at the 2010 NIT meet.
"We're thrilled to have these young ladies join us at NC State," said Stevenson. "All three are very skilled athletically and academically. They'll play a huge role in moving the program forward."
