RALEIGH, N.C. -
Russell Wilson was named ACC Player of the Week at offensive back for the fourth time on the season today as announced by the conference office. The Richmond, Va., native accounted for all four of the Wolfpack’s scores and directed the NC State offense to a 28-24 come-from-behind victory over the Seminoles. He completed 18 of 28 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown.
Wilson also carried the ball 17 times for 69 yards and three scores. His three rushing touchdowns, a career high, are the most by an NC State quarterback since Preston Poag rushed for three scores against Western Carolina on Sept. 3, 1988.
Wilson was especially effective in the second half; with NC State trailing 21-7 in the third quarter, he completed five of seven passes for 24 yards, and rushed five times for 43 yards and two touchdowns to tie the game at 21-21. In the fourth quarter he completed five of six passes for 74 yards, including the game-winning strike to George Bryan, which came on fourth-and-goal from the FSU 1-yard line with 2:40 to play.
The conference office also announced today that the Wake Forest contest scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13, will begin at 2 p.m., and will be broadcast live online via ESPN3 where available. The game will also serve as homecoming at NC State.
