LEXINGTON, KY. - Martha Hall and Mark Nations set new personal bests in air rifle and smallbore, respectively, as NC State rifle fell to Ohio State and Kentucky Saturday in Lexington, Ky.
The Wolfpack's record drops to 11-5 (9-2 SEARC, 0-2 GARC), and represents NC State's first match against Great American Rifle Conference opponents this season.
Mark Nations scored a new personal best in smallbore, a 557, helping NC State to a 2,237 total.
Martha Hall notched a personal best of 568 in air rifle to contribute to a 2,265 point total in air rifle.
The Wolfpack's combined total of 4,502 placed them third behind Kentucky (4,683) and Ohio State (4,605).
Madeline Pike matched her personal best of 563 in air rifle, and tied for second on the team in smallbore with a 559.
William Teller led the team in air rifle with his 570 point performance and contributed a 559 to the smallbore total.
Bryan Cross fired a team-high 562 in smallbore and a 564 in air rifle.
"Kentucky and Ohio State are both very strong," said NC State rifle head coach Keith Miller. "Kentucky is led by a newcomer from the German national team. I thought it was a tough test for us, but a good chance to measure ourselves against a pair of talented teams."
NC State will return to action Saturday, November 6 at the SEARC 3 meet in Anniston, Ala.
