RALEIGH, N.C. -
NC State volleyball travels to College Park, Md., and Chesnut Hill, Mass., this weekend to take on Boston College and Maryland in ACC matchups. The squad will battle the Terrapins Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. and the Eagles Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
The Wolfpack (12-11, 2-9 ACC) looks to rebound from last weekend’s losses to Virginia and Virginia Tech, and simultaneously snap a six-match losing streak, all of which have come in league play. Against the Cavaliers, the Pack offense struggled, hitting at just a .118 clip en route to the 1-3 loss. Similarly, the squad grinded out a .195 attack percentage in the 0-3 loss to Virginia Tech, while allowing the Hokies to hit at a .341 mark.
NC State has already matched up against both Boston College and Maryland in the 2010 season.
Against Boston College, the Wolfpack earned a 3-0 victory, holding the Eagles to a -.096 hitting percentage in the match while allowing only 15 kills. Junior Margaret Salata paced the Pack, scoring 12 kills to go along with four assisted and one solo block.
The match against Maryland was a block-fest, where the two squads earned a combined total of 23 in the Pack 1-3 loss. Megan Cyr earned her fourth double-double of the season, dishing out 35 assists and corralling 16 digs.
In last weekend’s action, Boston College (8-16, 0-11 ACC) was swept by both Clemson and Georgia Tech. The squad is led offensively by Tsvetelina Dureva, who averages 3.32 kills per set and has scored a team-best 282 kills in the 2010 season.
Maryland (15-8, 6-5 ACC) went 1-1 last weekend, falling to Clemson (1-3) but sweeping Georgia Tech in straight sets. The Terrapins feature a balanced offensive attack—four players average at least two kills per set.
Gametracker will be available on GoPack.com for both matches.
