Gymnastics Strong Against No. 2 Oklahoma

DALLAS, Texas - NC State gymnastics scored a season-high 194.875 to finish second behind No. 2 Oklahoma (196.100) at the Metroplex Challenge Quad Meet. Texas Women's University (191.225) and Alaska (188.900) rounded out the field.
Sophomore Jess Panza had the best meet of her career, turning in a personal-best 39.200 in the all-around to place first against stiff competition. She posted a 9.825 on vault and bars (career-high on bars), a 9.75 on beam and a 9.8 on floor.
Sophomore Brooke Barr score a pair of 9.9s, leading the team on vault and floor.
Freshman Rachel Fincham scored a career-best 9.825 on bars to tie for the team lead with Panza and senior Taylor Seaman. Seaman also scored a 9.85 on floor, the second-best mark on the team.
Junior Brittany Vontz competed in her first meet this season due to injury, and posted a 9.8 on bars, her best event.
The Wolfpack team returns home for a tri-meet on Feb. 5, taking on nationally ranked Florida and George Washington.
