RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State defender Korede Aiyegbusi was drafted in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Kansas City Wizards in the second round on Thursday. Aiyegbusi was the 20th selection in the draft overall.
Aiyegbusi, originally from London, England, spent the past two seasons at NC State after transferring from Essex Community College. In 2008, he started 19 games and this past season he started all 22 games as an outside defender. Aiyegbusi finished the 2009 season with one goal and three assists, and helped the Pack advance to the ACC Championship game and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Pack has had a handful of former players drafted over recent years. In 2006, the Pack had Denver, Colorado, natives Aaron King and John Queeley both selected in the MLS draft, Haddon Kirk was picked by Utah in 2007, and El Hadj Cisse was drafted by Chivas USA in 2008.
