Raleigh, N.C. - Canada has been kind to the NC State men's golf team, with currently three Canadians on the roster and two more on the way. Last week the Royal Canadian Golf Association announced its top amateur golfers heading into the 2010 season.
NCAA Champion Matt Hill is ranked as the second best Canadian amateur by the RCGA. The recognition for Hill keeps coming, as he is now ranked as the seventh best amateur in the world by the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings.
This past weekend Hill represented Team Canada in the 2010 Copa de las Americas that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Overall, Team Canada finished third behind the United States and Argentina. As an individual, Hill finished sixth with a one-over (289). He was the top Canadian in the event.
Teammate, Mitchell Sutton was named Canada's top junior golfer for the 2009 season, finishing atop the CN Future Links Junior Boy's Order of Merit. Future Wolfpack, Albin Choi, ended the year ranked as Canada's second best junior golfer.
The Wolfpack's first match will be the Mardi Gras Intercollegiate, which takes place February 22-23 at TPC Louisiana in New Orleans, La.
