RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State heads to the Queen city this weekend for its toughest road test to date against the Charlotte 49ers Sunday from Transamerica Field at 2:30 p.m.
The Pack is off to a 5-1-1 start to this season and is receiving votes in the latest NCAA Southeast Regional rankings.
Last time out, NC State scored a 2-0 road win at Elon last Sunday. Once again sophomore forward Paige Dugal and freshman midfielder Kara Blosser scored in the victory.
The high scoring duo has scored all eight of the Wolfpack’s goals over the last three games – leading the Pack to a 2-0-1 record in that time frame.
Blosser is tied for fifth in the ACC with 13 points and is third in goals scored with six. Only two players have found the back of the net more than the freshman from Spotsylvania, Va. She is also tied for the most goals in the league by a rookie player.
Additionally, Dugal is tied for eighth with five goals and 12 points. She is also tied for second in the league along with classmate Tanya Cain with two game-winning goals.
NC State sophomore keeper Kim Kern has started all seven matches, allowing just four goals in over 614 minutes. Her 0.59 goals against average is sixth in the ACC, while her save percentage also ranks sixth at .800. Kern is tied for third with three shutouts.
Cain is one of five players in the ACC to have three goals in a game this season. She was named ACC Co-Player of the Week last week on Sept. 1after the hat trick against Davidson.
NC State has won both of its prior two road games this season.
