Volleyball to Host Weekend Tournament

The Pack stands at 5-2 on the year after winning two of three last weekend at the USC Upstate Tournament in Spartanburg, S.C. Kelly Wood leads the team in kills with 55, while Alex Smith has 242 assists. Sarah Griggs has landed 11 service aces, and Lindsay Benac has wrapped up 92 digs. Jana Angel’s 23 total blocks is a team best.
Head coach Charita J. Stubbs and the Wolfpack will battle DePaul (noon) and Rutgers (7 p.m.) on Friday, before facing George Mason (noon) and Dartmouth (7 p.m.) on Saturday.
NC State is 7-4 all-time versus the tournament field, including a perfect 5-0 slate against George Mason and a 2-2 record against Rutgers. The Pack lost its lone meeting with both Dartmouth and DePaul, and has yet to face Xavier on the hardwood.
2009 volleyball team posters and schedule cards will be available in the front lobby of Reynolds Coliseum, and a serving contest will be held during the intermission of both 7 p.m. matches.
