Wood Named to USA Youth Volleyball Team

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State sophomore Kelly Wood has been named to the USA Youth A-2 national volleyball team. The sophomore libero will travel to Europe with the team July 14-25 for international competition. Wood is the first volleyball player from NC State to represent the university on a USA Volleyball national team.
“This is an incredible opportunity for Kelly,” said Wolfpack head coach Charita J. Stubbs. “She will serve as a great representative of NC State athletics while honoring our country and competing at the highest levels on the international stage. I couldn’t be more proud of her for what she’s done.”
Wood was selected from a field of over 150 student-athletes competing for a roster spot.
“I am very honored and excited to have this opportunity with USA Volleyball,” said Wood. "Having the chance to travel overseas and play volleyball while representing the United States is a dream come true.”
Last year Wood stood as the team's top libero for the vast majority of the season, leading the squad in digs with 486.
