Softball Falls to Florida State

RALEIGH, N.C. Florida State beat NC State 10-1 in the first of two games on Saturday, April 18 at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Stadium. The loss sends the Pack to 20-21 (3-10 ACC) on the year, while the Seminoles improve to 33-13 (9-4 ACC).
Sarah Hamilton moved to 13-5 with the victory, while Lindsay Campana fell to 10-10.
Kristine Bechtholdt led the Wolfpack offense with two hits.
Florida State jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first, thanks in part to a three-run bomb courtesy of Ashley Stager. Carly Wynn scored on a wild pitch just prior to Stager’s long ball.
Bethaney Wells trimmed the score to 4-1 with her second career home run, a solo shot to left field, in the bottom of the third.
Michelle Snyder pushed the Seminoles lead back four runs however, with a two-out dinger in the top of the fourth.
State threatened in the bottom of the fourth as Claudia Cooper reached on an error and Bechtholdt followed with her second single of the game, but Allison Presnell went down swinging and Lauren Peters got caught looking.
The Seminoles added three more in the top of the fifth as Wynn singled in a run and Stager drove in two with a double down the line in left. A two-run Monica Montez single in the top of the seventh made it 10-1.
NC State and Florida State will begin game two shortly.
