Henry Wins Shot Put Title

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - NC State's Lawanda Henry continues to impress in her redshirt freshman campaign. Henry won the shot put title at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships by breaking her own school record. Mattie Bethea also earned All-ACC honors in the high jump.
As a team NC State is fifth heading into the final day of competition.
Henry was All-ACC in the weight throw during the indoor season, and she is now All-ACC in the shot put with an ACC Championship under her belt. Henry's mark of 52'10.00" was a foot longer than her previous outdoor best. Henry now holds school records in both the indoor and outdoor shot put, the hammer throw and the weight throw in her first season of competition.
Mattie Bethea was All-ACC in the high jump, finishing second with a height of 5'07.00". She was also fourth in the heptathlon with a 5,118, the second-best mark in school history.
Angelina Blackmon will run in the finals of the 800m and the 1,500m on Saturday, finishing second in the 800m and sixth in the 1,500m in the prelims Friday.
In other top-10 finishes, Kara McKenna was ninth in the steeplechase and Kayla Lawson was seventh in the high jump.
