Women's Tennis Falls at ACC Tournament

CARY, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team fell to No. 17 Florida State, 4-0, in the first round of the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C. on Thursday, April 16. The loss sends the Pack to 4-18 on the season, and Florida State improves to 15-6.
NC State and the Seminoles split the first two doubles matches, but Florida State won the third to take the early point. Lauren Macfarlane and Noemie Scharle defeated freshman Pender Sessoms and senior Neils Barringer, 8-3, at No. 3, and junior Berkeley Brock and freshman Diana Mortlock split the doubles matches with an 8-3 win over Bonny Davidson and Jessica Sucupira at No. 2.
Federica Suess and Katie Rybakova defeated junior Daria Petrovic and sophomore Lenka Hojckova, 8-5, at No. 1 to take the doubles point.
Sucupira defeated Sessoms, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6, and Barringer lost to Ania Rynarzewska, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4. Rybakova, who is ranked 58th in the nation, secured the win for Florida State with a victory over 94th-ranked Hojckova, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0, at the top singles spot.
