BLACKSBURG, Va. - The NC State track and field team wrapped up the final qualifying meet before the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 7 in Blacksburg, Va.
For the men, sprinter A’Tolani Akinkuotu matched his own school record with a 6.66 in the 60m dash, after running times of 6.70 and 6.68 in the earlier heats. All three times were NCAA Indoor Provisional qualifying marks.
Lamont Savage hit his third NCAA Indoor Provisional qualifying mark in the long jump.
For the women, Lawanda Henry was just over three inches short of what would have been her sixth NCAA provisional time. Her school record throw earlier this year was just over two inches short of an automatic qualifying standard.
Alesha Patterson and Mattie Bethea both finished in the top-7 of the high jump. Bethea already has NCAA provisional marks in the high jump and the pentathlon this season.
