Track Heads to Va. Tech Last Chance Meet

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's and women's track and field will send athletes to Virginia Tech this weekend for a last chance meet before the NCAA Championships. Five men and eight women - including a school record holder for both squads - will make the trip to Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday, March 7.
On the men's side, school-record holder A'Tolani Akinkuotu will join 2009 All-ACC long jumper Lamont Savage to lead the men. Akinkuotu ran a 6.66 in the prelims of the 60m dash at the 2009 ACC Indoor Championships, a school record. Savage was third at the meet in the long jump.
On the women's side, three All-ACC honorees lead the charge - Mattie Bethea, Kayla Lawson and Lawanda Henry.
Bethea was third in the pentathlon and set a meet record for the high jump during the competition. Lawson was second in the high jump and Henry was second in the shot put.
