Women's Golf Opens Play at LSU Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. The NC State women’s golf team shot a team score of +16 (304) during the first day at the LSU Golf Classic on Friday. The Wolfpack is 17th among 18 teams.
Freshman Meghan Chapman had the best round of the day for the Pack with an even-par 72. She began at hole 10 and finished up strong with three birdies in her final seven holes. The Seminole, Fla., native is tied for 16th in the field of 95 competitors.
Senior Lauren Doughtie is tied for 58th after a four-over 76 on Friday. She had two birdies on her round to offset six bogeys.
Junior Kathleen Strandberg is one stroke back of Doughtie at +5 (77) and is tied for 70th. The Greensboro, N.C., native birdied her starting hole at No. 11 to get her on track quickly. She added another birdie later in the round.
Junior Emily shot a 79 and is tied for 86th. She birdied the par-4 1st hole to highlight her round today.
Sophomore Julie Saleeby struggled to an 83.
Wake Forest is leading at 4 (284), followed by Virginia (285) and host LSU (287).
Virginia’s Calle Nielson tops the field at 5 (67), followed by LSU’s Jaqueline Hedwall and UNC’s Allie White at 4 (68).
Saturday’s second round starts at 8 a.m. CDT on Nos. 1 and 10.
