Seaman Leads Gymnastics Past Colonials

RALEIGH, N.C. - On senior night for NC State gymnastics, the Wolfpack honored a trio of seniors - Elyse Adams, Dru Davis and Ashley Shepard - with its season-high score at home, a 195.475.
The Pack defeated the George Washington Colonials in the dual meet. The Colonials scored a 193.050.
While it may have been senior night, that didn't stop junior Taylor Seaman from scoring her third-highest all-around score of the season in winning that event, in addition to floor and bars. She also finished second on beam and fourth on vault.
Freshman Brooke Barr won vault, and freshman Jess Panza took the beam title.
NC State started on vault and posted a 48.950, its first of four straight team event wins. Barr, the EAGL leader on floor, won the event with a 9.875, the eighth straight meet that she scored a 9.850 or higher on the event.
Panza was second with a 9.825 and sophomore Brittney Hardiman was third with a 9.8.
Seaman won bars with a 9.85 to lead NC State to a 48.850, its second-highest score of the season. A trio of Wolfpackers tied for second with a 9.775 - Panza, junior Lauren Deuser and freshman Anna Kronenfeld.
On beam, Panza took the event with a career-best 9.9, while Seaman was second with a 9.825. Kronenfeld placed again, this time scoring a 9.725 to tie for third. The team scored a 48.725, its second-highest this season.
The Pack finished the meet on floor, and posted a 48.950 - its third best of the season. Seaman, the EAGL leader on the event, won the floor with a 9.9, her second-highest of the season. Shepard was near flawless on her routine on senior night, posting a 9.8 to take second, tied for her best finish of the season.
Barr and Hardiman tied for third with a score of 9.775 each.
Seaman scored a 39.325 in the all-around, followed closely by Panza with a 39.125. It was the first time this season Panza competed in the all-around. Hardiman was consistent in the all-around once again, posting a 38.925 to finish third.
NC State will also host the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships on March 21 at 3 pm and the NCAA Southeast Regionals on April 4 at 6 pm. Both events will be hosted in Historic Reynolds Coliseum.
