The 34th-ranked NC State women’s golf team makes its annual stop at the LSU Golf Classic this weekend in Baton Rouge, La.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15 from The University Club, Par 72, 6,424-yard layout.
Participating Teams: LSU, Arkansas, College of Charleston, Colorado, Furman, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, NC State, UNC Wilmington, Notre Dame, South Carolina, TCU, Tulane, Virginia and Wake Forest.
Tee Times: Friday and Saturday, running from 7:51 a.m. through 10:06 and then a shotgun start on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CDT.
Admission: Free and open to the public
Live scoring: Available at www.Golfstat.com
NC State projected starting lineup:
1. Lauren Doughtie
2. Joanna Saleeby
3. Meghan Chapman
4. Emily Street
5. Kathleen Strandberg
This marks the sixth straight year the Wolfpack will play in this tournament dating back to 2003-04. The Pack has posted a pair of top-5 finishes, including a fourth place showing last year.
There is a concern regarding weather on the opening day and while presently tee times are slated from 7:51 a.m. through 10:06 on both the front and back nine, there is the chance that the field may be regrouped and sent off as a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. in an attempt to get the entire round in with a forecast of 70 percent chance of rain.
With daylight savings time, there is the potential that a shotgun start could occur as late as 1 p.m., and still get the complete round in my darkness. A decision on that start setup will probably occur at the coaches meeting Thursday afternoon or at the team dinner Thursday evening.
NC State’s lineup has a little different look this week with Joanna Saleeby playing at No. 2, while Emily Street is playing four and Kathleen Strandberg gets a chance to show her talent at the fifth spot.
Lauren Doughtie and Street rank 52nd and 72nd respectively in the latest individual national rankings by Golfweek.
