Moldovan Wins ACC Indoor Title in 3,000m

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Bobby Moldovan won the ACC title in the 3,000m at the 2009 ACC Indoor Championships. It was the redshirt freshman's first ACC championship and the first time he was named All-ACC in track and field. Moldovan finished the race in a time of 8:11.89.
Moldovan's ACC Championship was the Wolfpack's first in the 3,000m since Ryan Woods won in 2001.
Teammate John Martinez was second in the 3,000m for the second-straight season, earning All-ACC honors in the event in back-to-back seasons. Martinez finished with a time of 8:12.31, less than a second behind Moldovan.
A'Tolani Akinkuotu finished sixth in the 60m finals with a time of 6.74, an NCAA indoor provisional qualifying mark, his sixth such mark on the season. A day earlier in the prelims, Akinkuotu ran a school record 6.66.
Jason Jones just missed All-ACC honors in the shot put with a fourth place finish. His mark of 57'07.75" was a season-best.
