No. 49 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 37 Washington

BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 49 NC State women's tennis team fell to No. 37 Washington, 7-0, on Saturday, Jan. 31, in Berkeley, Calif. in the first match of the ITA Indoor Championship. Whasington won the doubles point and then all of the singles matches to take he win. The Pack is now 1-2, and Washington is 4-0 on the season.
Aleksandra Malovic and Lina Xu defeated Daria Petrovic and Pender Sessoms, 8-1, at No. 3, and the No. 47 doubles team of Venise Chan and Denise Dy took down Berkeley Brock and Lenka Hojckova, 8-5, at No. 1 to take the doubles point.
Joyce Ardies won the first singles match, taking down Sessoms, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5, and Malovic defeated Jackie Ussery, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6. No. 112 Denise Dy secured the win for Washington by defeating Brock, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Xu defeated Neils Barringer, 6-2, 7-5. No. 81 Chan took down No. 87 Hojckova. Samantha Smith defeated Diana Mortlock, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4.
