Gymnastics Scores Season-High at Pitt

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - NC State gymnastics scored a season-high at EAGL foe Pittsburgh on Sunday, posting a 194.450. Pitt escaped with the home win, however, with a 195.300, despite NC State winning three of the four events.
Junior Taylor Seaman tied for first on vault, won floor and was second on bars to lead NC State. Sophomore Brittney Hardiman and freshman Brooke Barr both tied with Seaman for first on vault, as NC State had the third-highest team score on the event in school history.
Seaman, Hardiman and Barr each scored a 9.875 to win vault, while freshman Becca Teich and Alex Williams and senior Dru Davis each posted 9.800's to finish tied for sixth. The 9.800 for each of the three gymnasts set individual career-highs.
NC State set a season-high on bars, posting a 48.700. Seaman led the way with a season-high tying 9.825 to finish second. Sophomore Brittany Vontz scored a 9.750 on the event to finish third in the meet.
On beam, NC State was lead by Hardiman's 9.775 and Vontz's 9.750 to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. The team scored a 47.500.
On floor, NC State set a season-high with a 49.025. Seaman led the team and won the event with a 9.925, just off of her career-best. Seaman moved into fifth all-time in school history with her sixth score of 9.9+ on the floor.
Barr finished second on floor with a career-high 9.875, as her standout freshman season continues to benefit the Pack. Senior Ashley Shepard scored a 9.800 for the second-straight meet on the floor in her specialty event.
Hardiman posted a season-high in the all-around with a 39.100, the fifth time in her young career that she notched over a 39.000. That mark was the highest in the meet, with Seaman's 38.825 ranking second.
NC State will now return home to host a pair of big meets, starting with the annual Governor's Cup on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 6 pm. On Friday, Feb. 13, NC State will host the annual Sweetheart's Invitational at 7 pm.
