RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team got swept by Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 6 at Reynolds Coliseum. The loss sends the Wolfpack to 7-22 (0-14 ACC), while the Hokies climb to 17-8 (7-7 ACC).
Kelly Wood led the Pack with seven kills while Keri DeMar had six. Alex Smith lifted 20 set assists, and Lisa Kretchman had three total blocks. Three netters – Smith (13), Lindsay Benac (12) and Wood (11) – had double-digit dig totals.
The Pack walloped 11 kills – including six from Wood – but dropped the opening frame 25-18. Six attack errors plagued the offense, which was unable to generate any sustained scoring runs to counter the Hokies attack.
The second frame saw the Pack tack on 11 more kills and a match-high .139 hitting percentage despite collecting its smallest scoring output of the night in a 25-15 VT decision. Three tied scores and two lead changes kept play close until midway through, when several mini-runs from Virginia Tech put the Pack away.
The Pack’s offense struggled in the third and final stanza, committing three attack errors and supplying just seven kills in a 25-16 defeat.
NC State will host Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
