GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State forward Kara Blosser was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer All-Freshmen team on Tuesday after a vote conducted by the 11 coaches in the league.
Blosser led NC State (8-9-2, 2-7-1 ACC) in scoring this season with 20 points and nine goals scored.
"Kara had a fantastic freshman year," said coach Steve Springthorpe. "To come into the ACC and play as well as she did as a first year player is a great accomplishment on her part.
"At the same time I know that Kara being named to the All-ACC Freshman team is not only an individual honor but a team accomplishment as well. Many players on this team helped her obtain this honor by improving the teams level of play and helping Kara score the goals she did to lead our team.
"I am happy and thankful that Kara and our team were recognized by the coaches in the ACC."
Through the regular season in the ACC, Blosser is tied for eighth in goals and tied for ninth in scoring.
Florida State sophomore forward Tiffany McCarty was selected ACC Offensive Player of the Year and North Carolina senior defender Whitney Engen was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
In addition, Boston College forward Victoria DiMartino was voted ACC Freshman of the Year, and Florida State’s Mark Krikorian received the nod as Coach of the Year.
