GIDI is an unusual team building concept designed and taught by Ted Jones. It utilizes glow in the dark cords and other props to create a maze that challenges the group to work together. The glowing effects charged by black lights add an exciting atmosphere to the activity. The student led activities gave the Physical Education students practical experience leading and processing the experience for a class project that broadened their knowledge of team development.
The gymnastics team had a chance to be physically challenged during the problem solving process, while having a good time. The athletes and students enjoyed working together during this project. This event is an example of ongoing partnering between athletics, the physical education department and the Carmichael complex that helps to provide quality education and athletics at NCSU.
Special thanks to Ted Jones for the information and photos in this article.
