Duke Upends Volleyball, 3-0

DURHAM, N.C. – NC State volleyball suffered a 3-0 shutout loss at Duke on Friday, Nov. 20. The defeat moves the Wolfpack to 7-26 (0-18 ACC) for the year, while the Blue Devils jump to 25-5 (15-3 ACC).
Lisa Kretchman’s seven kills led the Pack offense, and Kelly Wood recorded 11 digs on defense. Alex Smith lifted 20 set assists, while both Margaret Salata and Lindsay Benac landed service aces.
Duke rolled in the first set on a match-high .542 hitting percentage, downing NC State 25-11. The Blue Devils recorded 13 kills without a single attack error, while the Pack’s eight kills were cancelled out by as many attack errors.
The Wolfpack put up a night-best 10 kills and hit a match-high .109 in the second tally, but still fell 25-16. Isis Gardner dropped three of her four kills during the stanza, while Wood roped in six digs.
The Pack tied the score on two occasions early on in the third and final frame, but lost 25-13.
NC State will take on Wake Forest in Winston-Salem tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
