Volleyball Comes Up Short at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The NC State volleyball team lost in three sets at Maryland on Sunday, Nov. 15. The loss moves the Wolfpack to 7-25 (0-17 ACC) on the season, while the Terrapins climb to 13-17 (5-12 ACC).
Keri DeMar led the Pack with 10 digs and nine kills, committing just one lone attack error on the day in the third and final set. Alex Smith set 22 assists, and Lindsay Benac led the squad in digs with 14. Jana Angel played well in coming off of the bench in the third set, landing four kills and roping in three block assists.
The Pack dropped the opening frame 25-15 as the Terps hit a match-high .333, led by Lisa Scott’s six scores. NC State then failed to collect the second tally 25-21, despite 11 kills and a Maryland match-low .132 swinging clip.
The final stanza of the day saw five lead changes and seven tied scores before the Terrapins won 25-20. Angel led the Pack off of the bench, as the Pack hit a match-best .143 with 12 kills. NC State led both early and midway through, but Maryland took over for the remainder of play at 19-18 on a Kelly Burns attack error.
NC State will resume play next weekend at Duke and Wake Forest.
