
Women's Golf In 12th at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Emily Street fired an even-par round of 72 to lead the NC State women’s golf team into 12th place after day one of the Tar Heel Invitational at UNC Finley Golf Course.
The Wolfpack shot a team score of +13 (301). The ultra-competitive field includes 18 teams, with 15 ranked in the top-45 nationally. NC State is ahead of four ranked clubs, including No. 14 Denver and 25th-ranked Kent State.
Street is tied for 13th after her 72 today. She had three birdies and three bogeys in her round and is just three shots out of the lead.
Sophomore Meghan Chapman is tied for 42nd after a four-over 76. She had two birdies at Nos. 2 and 7 today to highlight her round.
Junior Brooke Baker is also tied for 42nd after a 76. She had three birdies, including back-to-back’s at Nos. 6 and 7.
Senior Kathleen Strandberg is one behind Chapman and Baker and tied for 59th after a five-over 77. She had one birdie today.
Junior Julie Saleeby is tied for 74th after a seven-over 79.
Red-shirt junior Joanna Saleeby, playing as an individual, tied her younger sister after a round of 79.
No. 5 Michigan State leads the field at -3 (285) after the first of three rounds. The Spartans Laura Kueny shot a three-under 69 to post the first-round lead.
Second round action begins Saturday at 9 a.m.
