Women's Soccer Jumps Into NCAA Regional Rankings

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women’s soccer team is ranked No. 10 in this week’s NCAA Southeast Region by the NSCAA.
The Wolfpack, 7-4-1, 2-2 in the ACC under first-year head coach Steve Springthorpe, split a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference matches last week to jump into the regional rankings.
Last Thursday, freshman Kara Blosser led the way with a pair of goals in a 2-1 victory over Clemson for the clubs second conference victory of the season.
The Pack fell by a narrow 2-1 margin at Boston College, ranked sixth nationally, on Sunday. Sophomore Paige Dugal tied Blosser for the team lead with her eighth goal of the year against the Eagles.
Dugal and Blosser are tied for 36th nationally with 0.667 goals per game as each player has scored eight times in 12 games. Among freshmen, Blosser ranks ninth in the country in goals per game.
NC State visits North Carolina this Friday at 7 p.m., in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels, the top-ranked team in the region, is coming off a 1-0 loss at Virginia Tech on Sunday.
