RALEIGH, N.C. – The 13th-ranked NC State men’s soccer team was upset by visiting Clemson, 1-0, Friday night at Dail Soccer Field. After almost 85 minutes of scoreless action, Clemson’s Austin Savage slotted home a shot at the 84:46 mark for the lone score of the game.
The two teams went into the half scoreless, with few scoring chances for either squad. The Pack held a slight advantage in shots, 5-4, and Clemson came away with a 2-1 edge in shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Both teams did have one scoring opportunity. The Pack’s best chance was senior Federico Nachmann from the top of the penalty box 28 minutes in, but his chance was saves by Clemson’s Joseph Bendik.

Senior Ronnie Bouemboue put a header on goal that got past the keeper, but was saved off the backline by a Tiger’s defender 18 minutes into the half. Classmate Alan Sanchez would also come close with a shot to the far post 24 minutes in, but his attempt was saved by the Tiger’s Bendik.
