RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State volleyball suffered a three-set sweep from Clemson on Friday, Oct. 30 at Reynolds Coliseum. The loss moves the Wolfpack to 7-19 (0-11 ACC), while the Tigers improve to 17-7 (7-5 ACC).
Kelly Wood and Lisa Kretchman both recorded seven kills for the offense, while Alex Smith netted 20 set assists. Sarah Griggs and Wood both dropped service aces, while Wood led the team in digs with nine.
The Pack cruised to an early 1-5 lead and led midway through at 10-12 in the opening frame, but the Tigers chipped away at the score and eventually took over for good at 13-12 on a Sandra Adeleye kill. Kretchman landed four scores as the Pack fell 25-19.
Nine kills and nine attack errors nullified any Wolfpack offense in the second column, as NC State lost 25-13. The Tigers came out of the gate on fire, hitting .500 and smashing 11 kills while committing just two attack errors.
The Pack’s third set seemed like déjà vu as the team again put up nine kills and nine attack errors in a 25-17 loss. Wood led the scoring with four kills, but Clemson’s crisp offense was too much for the Pack to handle.
NC State will host Georgia Tech tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 31, at Reynolds Coliseum. Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m., with live stats available via GoPack.com.
