RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State wraps up the regular season Sunday against ACC foe Duke beginning at 1 p.m., at Dail Soccer Field. A win by the Wolfpack would give the program its first winning season since 2002.
The Wolfpack will honor its five seniors - Gia Cipollini, Chantalle Dugas, Kendall Irby, Meredith Parrilla and Katie Ruiz - in a brief senior day ceremony before the match.
The five players are all four-year members of the program and have combined to play in 339 games for the red and white. Each student-athlete has played in at least 64 games in their respective career.
NC State currently sits 10th in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with seven points and a 2-6-1 league slate.
The Pack received goals from seniors Irby and Dugas Thursday night in a 2-0 victory at home over Francis Marion. The win moved NC State to 8-8-2 on the season.
The Pack is led on offense by freshman Kara Blosser and sophomore Paige Dugal. Blosser enters the final weekend of the year tied for ninth in the ACC with 20 points on a team-high nine goals and two assists. The Spotsylvania, Va., native also ranks third among freshmen in the league in total points and goals.
Dugal has 19 points on the year with eight goals and three assists. The duo continues to rank as third highest scoring combo in the ACC.
Senior Gia Cipollini and junior Alyson Santilli lead the team with five assists, while senior Katie Ruiz has dished out four helpers.
NC State sophomore keeper Kim Kern has started all 18 matches, allowing 25 goals in 1,593 minutes in net. She is 10th in the ACC with a 1.41 goals-against-average with three shutouts, while her save percentage ranks seventh at .747. Her 74 saves are third in the league.
Scouting Duke (7-7-4, 3-4-2 ACC)
Duke is coming off a 1-0 loss at No. 7 Boston College on Thursday. A loss Sunday would put the Blue Devils in jeopardy of their first losing season since 2001.
