RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State volleyball lost in three sets at home to Boston College on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Reynolds Coliseum. The setback moves the Wolfpack to 7-12 (0-4 ACC) on the year, while the Eagles improve to 11-5 (1-4 ACC).
Isis Gardner’s seven kills led the Pack offense, as Margaret Salata and Lisa Kretchman both added five of their own. Alex Smith lifted 15 set assists, while Kelly Wood had 11 digs along with two service aces.
The Pack’s best statistical effort came in the opening column, as the team dropped 11 kills with just seven attack errors. The Eagles, however, out-hit the Wolfpack with a .282 clip en route to a 25-18 decision. NC State’s passing and offense struggled in the second stanza, pasting just five total kills while dropping a 25-11 set.
Boston College finished strong in the third and final set, hitting a match-high .423 with 13 kills and just two attack errors. Meanwhile the Pack landed 11 kills of its own, but accrued just as many attack errors to cancel out its scoring as BC won 25-19.
NC State will return to the road next week, heading to Virginia Tech and Virginia for ACC matches.
