RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team will take to the court at Reynolds Coliseum for two conference matches over the weekend. The Wolfpack will host Clemson on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., before facing Georgia Tech at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Admission is free to both matches, and GoPack.com will provide live stats.
The Pack stands at 7-18 (0-10 ACC), following a road jaunt to No. 17 Florida State and Miami last weekend. Kelly Wood continues to pose as the main offensive threat on the roster with 179 kills and 17 service aces, while Alex Smith has 577 assists. Lindsay Benac’s 351 digs is a team-best, as is Lisa Kretchman’s 64 total blocks. Taylor Pritchard also has 17 service aces, tying Wood for the team lead.
Wolfpack netters have posted 20 double-doubles on the year, second-most among all teams in the ACC. Smith owns eight double-doubles, Wood has seven, Kelly Burns has three and Keri DeMar has two.
Clemson (16-7, 6-5 ACC) enters the weekend having won five of its last seven bouts – six of which have come against conference opponents. The Tigers’ Didem Ege boasts 2,100 career digs, fourth-most in conference history.
Georgia Tech (14-7, 8-3 ACC) will take on North Carolina in nearby Chapel Hill on Friday night before facing the Pack. Last weekend the Yellow Jackets split conference play at home, topping Wake Forest and falling to Duke in five sets. Bailey Hunter has posted 10 or more kills in 19-straight matches dating back to Aug. 29.
Next week NC State will play a midweek tilt at North Carolina, before hosting both Virginia Tech and Virginia at Reynolds Coliseum over the weekend.
