RALEIGH, N.C. – As the 2009 season is starting to wind down with postseason play right around the corner, the NC State men’s soccer team continues to impress and climb in the national rankings each week.
The Pack’s highest honor came out this past week, as NC State checks in at No. 8 in the RPI. The RPI is updated three times a year, and this was the second straight time NC State was in the top-10, the final RPI will be released before the NCAA Tournament. The ACC overall had four of the top nine teams.
NC State also appears in all four national polls for the eighth straight week. This week, the Pack checks in at No. 11 in Soccer America’s top-25, and No. 13 in the NSCAA Poll, CollegeSoccerNews.com, and Soccer Times.
After last night’s 5-0 win over Centenary, the Pack stands at 11-3-1 on the season. NC State has won seven of its last eight contests, and is a perfect 9-0 on non-conference play thus far. Dating back to last season, the Pack is 19-6-1 over its last 26 games, with five of the six losses coming to top-five ranked teams.
The Wolfpack will return to conference action this weekend, when NC State will host Clemson Friday night at Dail Soccer Field at 7:00 p.m.
