Four Members Advance in ITA Regional

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team had a successful day at the ITA Regional Indoor Championships on Saturday, Oct. 23.
In the main draw singles competition, Lenka Hojckova opened up with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Laura Borza of College of Charleston. Berkeley Brock also had a win in her first match, beating Carolina Magnusson of Clemson, 6-1, 6-3. Sandhya Nagaraj defeated Maddy Saari-Bystrom of South Carolina, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Ashley Miller advanced as well, taking down Olivia McMillan of Presbyterian, 6-2, 6-0.
After advancing in the qualifying rounds yesterday, Diana Mortlock fell to Sasha Kulikova of Wake Forest, 6-0, 6-2. Tana Illova lost a hard fought match to Liz Plotkin of Duke, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
In their first match of doubles competition, Hojckova and Nagaraj teamed up to beat Keri Wong and Magnusson of Clemson, 8-4. Following the match, the duo lost 8-4 to Haley Hemm and Jocelyn Ffriend of North Carolina,
Illova and Mortlock were beaten 8-1, by Amanda Granson and Ellah Nze of Duke. Brock and Miller lost a close match to Martina Pavelec and Kulikova of Wake Forest, 8-6.
Singles competition for the Wolfpack will continue tomorrow.
