Volleyball Headed to the Sunshine State

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State volleyball will head south to the Sunshine State for two ACC bouts this weekend. The Wolfpack will take on No. 17 Florida State in Tallahassee on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., before battling Miami on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 p.m.
NC State (7-16, 0-8 ACC) returns to the road after hosting Wake Forest and Duke at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh this past weekend. The Pack boasts five netters with triple-digit kill totals, including Kelly Wood (170), Keri DeMar (149), Isis Gardner (139), Lisa Kretchman (125) and Alex Smith (103). Smith also has 526 sets assists, while Kelly Burns has lifted 187. Sarah Griggs and Taylor Pritchard have both landed 16 service aces, while Lisa Kretchman’s 63 total blocks leads the roster. Lindsay Benac owns 339 digs.
Florida State sits comfortably at the top of the ACC standings with a 17-2 (8-1 ACC) record, having won five straight and 15 of its last 16. Both of their losses came on the road in five sets at No. 5 Florida and at Georgia Tech.
Miami carries a 12-7 (5-4 ACC) slate, after grabbing conference victories on the road last weekend at Boston College and Maryland. The Hurricanes have won six of nine matches at home this season, including conference decisions over Virginia and Georgia Tech. Miami will host North Carolina on Friday while NC State is playing at Florida State.
Next weekend NC State will host both Clemson and Georgia Tech at Reynolds Coliseum on campus.
