CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The NC State women’s soccer team lost 5-0 at No. 2 North Carolina Friday night at Fetzer Field.

UNC (11-1-1, 3-1 ACC) had five different goal scorers on the evening, including three markers in the opening 10 minutes.

After taking a 3-0 lead into halftime, the Tar Heels added a Jessica McDonald goal in the 60th minute, while Alyssa Rich capped the scoring four minutes later.

NC State (7-5-1, 2-3 ACC) got a shot on net by senior defender Gia Cipollini in the 39th minute, but UNC keeper Ashlyn Harris was there to make the save.

Wolfpack keeper Kim Kern made five saves in net in just under 64 minutes of work. Freshman Abbie Swank played the final 26:13 and did not make a save.

NC State returns to action next Thursday to host No. 11 Wake Forest at 7 p.m., from Dail Soccer Field.
