Gymnastics Kicks Off 2009 Season
1/8/2009 12:00:00 AM | Women's Gymnastics
The NC State gymnastics team will kick off the 2009 season with a home meet on Friday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. in Reynold's Coliseum. The youthful team - only five upperclassmen on a roster of 17 - will face Illinois-Chicago in the opener as it prepares for a challenging season ahead.
"My personal goal is to be in contention for the EAGL Championship once again. I think we have the pieces in place to be one of the front runners for the title," head coach Mark Stevenson said about his 2009 squad.
The lineups for the opening meet have been set, with the freshmen already making an impact in their first collegiate competition. On vault, three of the six gymnasts are rookies, while two on bars, three on beam and two on floor are in their first collegiate meet.
