W. Track & Field Heads to Carolina Classic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After day one of the two-day Carolina Classic, NC State women's track and field got off to a strong start. Ashley Neal (triple jump), Lawanda Henry (weight throw) and Mattie Bethea (Pentathlon - High Jump) each won an event on the opening day.
Neal won the triple jump with her second-best mark of the season, a 36'09.00".
Henry won the weight throw for the fifth time in the five meets this season, throwing a distance of 60'11.50". It was the third time this season that she went over the 60' mark.
Mattie Bethea finished fourth in the indoor pentathlon with 3,521 points and won the high jump leg at the meet. Her jump of 5'07.75" in the high jump is a season-high. She also finished third in the shot put, third in the long jump, fourth in the 6om hurdles and ninth in the 800m run.
The meet continues today in Chapel Hill, N.C.
