Gymnastics Third Against No. 17 Denver, Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - NC State gymnastics fell to 1-4 (0-1 EAGL) after a third-place finish at a tri-meet against No. 17 Denver and Maryland in College Park, Md. The Pack scored a 192.075. Junior Taylor Seaman won vault and tied for first on floor to lead the squad. She leads the Wolfpack with five first-place finishes on the season.
Seaman notched a 9.850 on vault to win the event and lead the team to a season-high of 48.600, the second-best team score at the meet for the event. Seaman was followed closely by sophomore teammate Brittney Hardiman, who tied for fourth with a 9.800. Seaman's score was the top score on the event for the team this season. Freshmen Brooke Barr (9.750) and Becca Teich (a season-high 9.725) were also strong on vault.
On bars, Hardiman had her top score of the season with a 9.750 to finish third and lead the team. Freshman Jackie Yanchocik hit her best routine of the season, posting a 9.700 to finish sixth overall on the event and second behind Hardiman for the Pack.
The team tied its season-high on beam, scoring a 47.650. The Pack was led by a second-place finish from Seaman, who scored a 9.825 - a season-high and tied for her career-best on the event. Sophomore Brittany Vontz tied for sixth with a 9.775, a career-high.
The Pack finished second as a team on floor, scoring a 48.400. Seaman tied for first with a 9.800. Senior floor specialist Ashley Shepard tied for third at the meet with a 9.775. Barr scored a 9.725.
NC State will host four-time defending NCAA Champion Georgia on Friday, Jan. 30 in Historic Reynolds Coliseum at 7pm. Come out and support Wolfpack Gymnastics!
