M. Track & Field Heads to UNC Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's and women's track and field will travel to Chapel Hill for the UNC Classic on Saturday, Jan. 24 as the indoor track season rolls on.
Both teams are coming off of a trip to the VT Hokie Invitational, and have multiple athletes ranked among the ACC's Top Performers.
For the men, A'Tolani Akinkuotu is first in the 55 meters and sixth in the 60m, including hitting an indoor NCAA Provisional mark in the 60m. Another top athlete is Jason Jones, who ranks second in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw.
Timothy Majors is fourth in the 55m and fourth in the 55m hurdles, while Brandon Bias is third in the 55m hurdles and 10th in the 60m hurdles.
James Robinson is fifth in the 55m and fifth in the 55m hurdles.
Lamont Savage is eighth in the long jump and ninth in the triple jump, and Kwame Boatwright is seventh in the triple. Sandwhiched between them in the rankings is Travis Weston who is eighth.
Thrower Adam Gray is sixth in the weight throw.
On the women's side, Ashley Orr is sixth in the 55m and Taylor Graham is eighth in the ACC in the same event. Graham is also third in the 55m hurdles, and Brandalyn Furr is fourth in the 55m hurdles and ninth in the 55m dash.
Mattie Bethea is third in the high jump, and Kayla Lawson is ninth in that event and ninth in the triple jump.
Lawanda Henry hit an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put and leads the conference in that event in addition to the weight throw. Brittany McCain is seventh in the weight throw.
