No. 25 Gymnastics Finishes Third at No. 8 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - NC State gymnastics, ranked No. 25 nationally after its opening weekend score a week ago, finished third at a tri-meet against No. 8 Michigan and Kent State. The Wolfpack scored a 191.150, while No. 8 Michigan posted a 194.325 and Kent State scored a 193.525.
The Pack started on bars at the tri-meet, and posted a 48.550 to top last week's bar score. Like last week, Seaman and Vontz paced the bar workers. Vontz led the team with a 9.825, while Seaman was second with a 9.800. Vontz's score was third in the meet, with Seaman placing fourth. Sophomore Brittney Hardiman posted a 9.700.
NC State got off to a strong start on the beam before a couple of falls hurt the Wolfpack's team score. Freshman Brooke Barr led the team with a 9.750 and finished fifth on the beam overall at the meet. Fellow freshman Anna Kronenfeld was next with a 9.675 to place ninth. Vontz was third with a 9.650.
Barr continued her strong night, posting a 9.750 on floor to lead the team and finish third in the meet.. Senior Ashley Shepard and Seaman were second on the squad with a pair of 9.625, finishing ninth overall.
Barr was fifth in the meet on vault with a 9.750, while Seaman was seventh with a 9.725.
In the all-around, Vontz led NC State with a 38.500 to finish fifth overall.
Freshman Jess Panza, the EAGL Rookie of the Week, was injured during warm-ups and did not compete. She led the team in both vault and beam in the Pack's season-opening meet against Illinois-Chicago last week.
NC State will travel to Maryland next weekend for a quad meet against conference foes for the first time this season..
