W. Track & Field Finishes Third at Tar Heel

The NC State women's track and field team finished third in the Tar Heel Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11. Mattie Bethea, Tiayonna Blackmon and Lawanda Henry paced the women's squad which finished the scored meet with 77 points.
The senior Bethea won the high jump (5'07.00") and finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a 9.19. She also led the team and finished seventh in the long jump (17'03.50") and seventh in the shot put (35'03.75").
Blackmon, a true freshman, had a strong meet, finishing fifth in the 800m (2:21.37) and sixth in the mile with a time of 5:18.55.
Henry, a redshirt freshman, already has an NCAA indoor provisional mark on the season in the shot put and had another strong meet in the throws. Her shot put mark of 46'00.50" earned her a second-place showing, while her 61'04.00" throw on the 20-pound weight was good for the event win.
Next up for the Pack will be the two-day VT Hokie Invitational on Jan. 16-17.
