Volleyball to Open ACC Play at Home

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State volleyball will open the conference portion of its schedule this weekend at historic Reynolds Coliseum, hosting Boston College and Maryland. The Pack will take on the Eagles on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m., before battling the Terrapins on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. Live stats for both matches will be available on GoPack.com
The Wolfpack (6-9) is off to its best start since the 2005 campaign, having won five of its last eight matches. Last weekend the Pack grabbed two decisions at the East Carolina Invitational in Greenville, N.C., downing both Morgan State (3-0) and host East Carolina (3-2). Aiwane Iboaya was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts on the weekend, as she hit .463, amassed 29 kills and had nine total blocks.
Iboaya’s 44 total blocks are a team best, with Margaret Salata standing second with 42. Arlee Tamietti’s 156 kills and 12 service aces are both tops on the squad, while Alex Smith has lifted 420 assists and Kelly Wood has contributed 208 digs.
Boston College stands at 6-7 (0-1 ACC), having dropped two of its last three matches. Two Eagle netters, Jordan Meredith (174) and Taylor Williams (125) have over 100 kills each, while Dani Moskitis has 272 assists. Brennan Clark has collected 194 digs, while Tori Thompson has 25 total blocks.
Maryland (5-8, 1-0 ACC) downed Boston College this past Tuesday in the ACC opener for both programs. The Terrapins hit a season-best .248 in grabbing the four-set decision, while Kate Usher paced the squad with 12 kills and .556 hitting clip. She leads the team with 125 kills and 12 service aces on the season, while Hayley Hanson has 273 assists. Three Terps, Bethany Springer (174), Maggie Schmelzle (137) and Michelle Kenning (103) have over 100 digs each, and Lisa Scott owns a team-best 55 total blocks.
Next weekend NC State will hit the road for ACC matches at Wake Forest and Duke.

- Starting Line-up Autographed Mini-Ball Toss: The Wolfpack starters will be throwing out autographed mini-volleyballs as they are announced. If you are lucky enough to catch one of the volleyballs hold on to until the end of the match. We will announce the name of one of the Wolfpack players and if you have a mini-volleyball signed by them you will win an exciting prize!
- Best Seat in the House: Sign up at the marketing table when you come to the match and you could be selected to sit in the Best Seat in the House, a couch located on the court. You will also win other great prizes!! The winning name will be announced during the 1st timeout of the 1st set.
- Know That Tune: Listen up between the 1st and 2nd set. If you are the first one to name the song and the artist you will win a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
- Wolfpack T-Shirt Toss: Heads up in between the 2nd and 3rd set for Wolfpack Athletics T-Shirts!
- Autograph Session- There will be an autograph session immediately following the match with all of your favorite Wolfpack volleyball players.
