Men's Soccer Drops Contest at UVA

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. The NC State men’s soccer team fell at Virginia on Friday night, 5-0, in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers (3-3, 1-0 ACC) used four first half goals, including three in a four-minute span, to earn the home win over the visiting Wolfpack (1-4-1, 0-2 ACC).
Chris Agorsor started the scoring off at the 15:25 mark with an assist from Tony Tchani. The Cavs would then go on a scoring splurge, netted three scores in just over three minutes. Tchani converted a penalty kick at 36:37, Hunter Jumper added a goal at 37:34, and Tchani would notch his second of the day at 39:40.
The Cavaliers went into the half up 4-0, thanks in part to a 11-3 advantage in shots.
Only one score took place in the second half, as Virginia’s Jimmy Simpson scored at the 68:47 mark for the game’s final tally.
NC State’s Christopher Widman recorded four saves for the game, but UVA’s Michael Giallombardo earned the shutout with his four saves.
NC State will return to home action this Wednesday night, as the Pack plays host to High Point in 7:00 p.m. contest. The game marks the first of a six-game homestand for the NC State men’s soccer team.
