RALEIGH, N.C. -- Aug, 29th will mark the beginning of the 34th season of NC State volleyball as the Pack takes to the court at the Virginia Commonwealth Tournament in Richmond, Va. With nine returning letterwinners and eight newcomers, third-year head coach Charita J. Stubbs believes that the team is poised to climb the ACC standings during 2008.
State will open its year with 15 non-conference contests including stops at the U.S.A. Air Force Academy Tournament and the East Carolina Tournament, aside from the season opener at VCU. The Pack will also host its own tournament, the Hilton/RTP NC State Classic, Sept. 12-13, at Reynolds Coliseum. Norfolk, William & Mary and UNC Asheville round out the bracket.
Due to new ACC legislature, State will play home and away conference contests against all but one team this year, unlike in the past where each school hosted and visited one another at least once. The lone meeting between the Wolfpack and Georgia Tech will take place on Oct. 24 in Raleigh.
All fans are invited to come out and meet the Pack next Saturday, August 16, at the annual Red/White scrimmage beginning at 4 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum.
