Lauren Doughtie Competing at U.S. Women's Amateur

EUGENE, Ore. NC State rising senior Lauren Doughtie shot a five-over 77 Monday at the first round of the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship golf tournament at Eugene Country Club.
The Suffolk, Va., native is tied for 70th. The field of 156 will be cut to 64 for five rounds of match play beginning Wednesday.
Doughtie began the day with three pars and made two bogeys on the front nine to go out at two-over 37.
After a bogey at No. 10, she posted her only birdie of the round at No. 13. Doughtie later bogeyed three of the last five holes to come in at three-over 40.
Doughtie begins her second round from No. 10 at 7:41 am PDT.
