A Few Athletics Department Updates (8/20/08)

As we begin our new academic year -- classes for all students at NC State begin on Wednesday -- I would like announced a few staff changes we have made in the athletics department. As most people know, senior associate athletics director Nora Lynn Finch has accepted a position with the Atlantic Coast Conference. After 31 years at NC State, her final day was Friday.
Her duties within the department will be assumed by the following:
- Interim associate athletics director for compliance Michelle Lee will also serve as the senior women's administrator on an interim basis. She will also serve as the sport administrator for women's basketball.
- Associate athletics director for business operations Diane Britt Moose will assume all post-season budget responsibilities.
- Senior associate athletics director David Horning will supervise the equipment rooms. He will also now serve as the sport administrator for wrestling.
- Associate athletics director Dick Christy will serve as sport administrator for men’s soccer, and men's and women’s golf.
- Michelle Lee and human resources manager Christy Scheid will assume responsibility for graduate assistants and managers.
We have added others members to our staff here in the department and changed some other responsibilities heading into the new academic year:
- Adina Stock has been promoted director of Olympic sports game operations and will serve as sport administrator for softball.
- Assistant athletics director for indoor facilities Barry Joyce now serves as sport administrator for women’s soccer.
- Scott Byrd has been hired as director of compliance, effective July 15.
- Roger “Chip” Watson has been hired as the assistant men's golf coach, effective Aug. 1.
- Jennifer “Jenny” Johansen has been hired as the head diving coach effective Aug. 1.
