NC State runners Stephen Furst and John Martinez were named All-Americans after their performances in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. Furst earned honors in the 5,000m while Martinez was honored in the steeplechase.
Furst wrapped up his impressive senior season and finished 10th in the 5,000m.
Furst ran a 13:49.87, just less than seven tenths off of his top time of his career set earlier this season, and a time that ranks in the top-4 all-time at NC State in the event.
He finished off a standout senior year in which he won the ACC Outdoor Championships in the 5,000m and 10,000m in addition to the 5,000m crown at the prestigious Penn Relays. Add in his 10th place finish at the NCAA Championships and his senior year was a resounding success.
Martinez was 16th with a 8:58.94 in the steeplechase and earned All-American honors as only a sophomore. He also earned All-ACC honors for a third place finish in the steeplechase at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
