RALEIGH, N.C. For the second straight year, the NC State men’s golf team will host its annual Intercollegiate at River Landing in Wallace, N.C. The 2009 version of the River Landing Intercollegiate will take place April 10-11, with 36 holes played on the first day, followed by a round of 18 on the second day. The field will consist of six teams that finished in the top-50 this past season, and eight teams in the top-100 overall.
"Once again we have another strong field for our tournament," said NC State head coach Richard Sykes. "Everybody involved in the 2008 Intercollegiate did such a tremendous job running the tournament, that we are really excited to be going back again in 2009 before hosting on campus in the near future."
This past season’s Intercollegiate was held on the Landing Course because of heavy rain, but will be played on the River Course in 2009. The 2009 tournament will be held on the same weekend as the Masters, and it also falls on Easter weekend.
NC State had a very successful showing this past year at its own River Landing Intercollegiate, finishing second among the 15 team field, with three Pack golfers finishing in the top-five. Kent Copeland had his best tournament of the season, as he finished tied for third at five-under (211). Darren Blair and Matt Hill each finished at one-under (215) and tied each other for fifth place.
